Summer 2022

June 6th through August 13th

Weekly Summer Classes –

Summer is the perfect time to try dance classes for the first time! Our ten week summer calendar gives children the chance to try dance with a shorter commitment but long enough to get a good taste of what classes are like at SCBD. Additionally, it is a good time to learn some foundational positions and terminology before fall classes begin.

It is also important for young dancers to keep the technique, terminology, and skills they worked so hard to aquire during the school year. SCBD offers weekly classes but understands that students may be on family vacation and attending camps during the summer. For that reason, we offer ten weeks of instruction but only charge a tuition based on nine weeks.

Dance Camps –

Dance Camp is a wonderful way for children to engage at SCBD in the summer. Young children experience different forms of dance, flex their creativity through choreography, and build a craft they will utilize during the end of week showcase. Students build friendships and relationships with teachers that will last well into the future. SCBD offers camps for various ages.

Summer Intensive Programs –

SCBD’s Summer Intensive Program is exactly that, Intensive! Students who enroll in the Summer Intensive grow leaps and bounds in their technique and strength. Many times there are steps or coordinations a student has worked hard to master during the year but struggled with. Because of the immersive nature of the intensive program, daily classes, guest teachers, and rigorous schedule, students are able to accomplish and master new, and more advanced steps and variations. SCBD offers a Summer Intensive program for three levels of students.

Private Instruction –

Summer is an ideal time to add private instruction to a dancer’s schedule. A few private lessons designed to zone in on particular technique needs, catch a student up to their desired level, or begin a solo for a competition can give a student a head start before the busy school year begins in the fall.

Private Instruction

Private instruction can be helpful to reach numerous goals. Students may want to work on and target a specific area of technique or get a head start on a solo for competition. If a student is just starting at SCBD, they may wish to pursue private instruction in order to gain more confidence in their class setting. Whatever the reason for seeking one on one instruction from a faculty member of SCBD, we believe this type of focused training can be very beneficial at specific times of a young dancer’s career.
